Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Communication and Internet, Iron & Steel and Electricity sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.15%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Precision (TW:3016), which rose 9.90% or 1.90 points to trade at 21.10 at the close. Meanwhile, San Chih (TW:3579) added 9.72% or 1.05 points to end at 11.85 and Transasia (TW:6702) was up 9.09% or 0.07 points to 0.84 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tonlin Dept (TW:2910), which fell 4.87% or 1.90 points to trade at 37.10 at the close. Entie Bank (TW:2849) declined 3.81% or 0.55 points to end at 13.90 and China Wire & Cable Co Ltd (TW:1603) was down 3.48% or 0.80 points to 22.20.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 410 to 317 and 147 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.76% or 0.40 to $52.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.74% or 0.41 to hit $55.88 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.06% or 0.75 to trade at $1162.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.15% to 32.291, while TWD/CNY rose 0.14% to 0.2155.
The US Dollar Index was unchanged 0.00% at 103.24.
