Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Electricity and Glass sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.14% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Global Lightin (TW:4935), which rose 9.88% or 6.00 points to trade at 66.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Kao Hsing Chan (TW:2008) added 9.87% or 1.10 points to end at 12.25 and Shunsin Tech Holdings (TW:6451) was up 9.60% or 9.20 points to 105.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Transasia (TW:6702), which fell 9.78% or 0.22 points to trade at 2.03 at the close. Hannstar Board (TW:5469) declined 5.49% or 1.15 points to end at 19.80 and Enlight Corp (TW:2438) was down 5.17% or 0.60 points to 11.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 467 to 281 and 125 ended unchanged.
Shares in Transasia (TW:6702) fell to all time lows; down 9.78% or 0.22 to 2.03. Shares in Kao Hsing Chan (TW:2008) rose to 52-week highs; rising 9.87% or 1.10 to 12.25.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.53% or 0.27 to $50.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.37% or 0.20 to hit $53.73 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.06% or 0.75 to trade at $1169.35 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 31.921, while TWD/CNY rose 0.09% to 0.2152.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 100.59.
