Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Electricity sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.37% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Li Peng Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1447), which rose 10.00% or 0.80 points to trade at 8.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Green Seal Holding Ltd (TW:1262) added 9.96% or 2.70 points to end at 29.80 and Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) was up 9.94% or 1.80 points to 19.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Young Optics Inc (TW:3504), which fell 9.89% or 13.50 points to trade at 123.00 at the close. CSBC Corp Taiwan (TW:2208) declined 5.96% or 2.45 points to end at 38.65 and Ruentex Materials Co Ltd (TW:8463) was down 5.04% or 1.50 points to 28.25.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 513 to 285 and 121 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.54% or 0.37 to $68.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.32% or 0.24 to hit $73.97 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.29% or 3.60 to trade at $1220.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.15% to 30.629, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2216.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 94.43.
