Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Construction and Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted rose 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ta Liang Technology Co Ltd (TW:3167), which rose 10.00% or 6.80 points to trade at 74.80 at the close. Meanwhile, Edimax Technology Co Ltd (TW:3047) added 10.00% or 3.85 points to end at 42.35 and King’s Town Construction Co Ltd (TW:2524) was up 9.98% or 9.30 points to 102.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lead Data Inc (TW:2443), which fell 9.85% or 0.39 points to trade at 3.57 at the close. Vivotek Inc (TW:3454) declined 9.29% or 12.50 points to end at 122.00 and Global Unichip Corp (TW:3443) was down 9.13% or 110.00 points to 1,095.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.
Shares in Vivotek Inc (TW:3454) fell to 52-week lows; losing 9.29% or 12.50 to 122.00. Shares in King’s Town Construction Co Ltd (TW:2524) rose to all time highs; rising 9.98% or 9.30 to 102.50. Shares in Global Unichip Corp (TW:3443) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.13% or 110.00 to 1,095.00.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.85% or 1.38 to $76.11 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.73% or 1.35 to hit $79.42 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.43% or 10.60 to trade at $2,462.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.15% to 32.79, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.09% to 0.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 104.23.
