Sri Lanka stocks lower at close of trade; CSE All-Share down 0.74%

Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Footwear & Textile, Power & Energy and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.74% to hit a new 52-week low.

The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Serendib Engineering Group PLC (CM:IDL), which rose 18.18% or 1.00 points to trade at 6.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Hikkaduwa Beach Resort Ltd (CM:CITH) added 12.61% or 1.40 points to end at 12.50 and Kelsey Developments PLC (CM:KDL) was up 12.42% or 5.50 points to 49.80 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Kotmale Holdings PLC (CM:LAMB), which fell 16.25% or 19.50 points to trade at 100.50 at the close. Horana Plantations PLC (CM:HOPL) declined 13.51% or 2.50 points to end at 16.00 and Commercial Development Company PLC (CM:COMD) was down 13.22% or 9.90 points to 65.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 116 to 57 and 58 ended unchanged.

Shares in Horana Plantations PLC (CM:HOPL) fell to 52-week lows; down 13.51% or 2.50 to 16.00. Shares in Commercial Development Company PLC (CM:COMD) fell to 3-years lows; losing 13.22% or 9.90 to 65.00.

Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.49% or 0.72 to $47.52 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.55% or 0.79 to hit $50.17 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.10% or 1.25 to trade at $1245.25 a troy ounce.

GBP/LKR was down 0.12% to 189.270, while USD/LKR rose 0.05% to 151.820.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 99.66.
