Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Information Technology, Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share fell 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Singer Industries PLC (CM:SINI), which rose 19.59% or 28.50 points to trade at 174.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Madulsima Plantations PLC (CM:MADU) added 12.50% or 0.80 points to end at 7.20 and Palm Garden Hotels PLC (CM:PALM) was up 9.30% or 2.80 points to 32.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB), which fell 14.29% or 0.1000 points to trade at 0.6000 at the close. Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) declined 12.50% or 0.100 points to end at 0.700 and Taprobane Holdings PLC (CM:TAPR) was down 10.42% or 0.500 points to 4.300.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 86 to 69 and 43 ended unchanged.
Shares in SMB Leasing PLC (CM:SEMB) fell to 5-year lows; down 14.29% or 0.1000 to 0.6000. Shares in Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL) fell to 5-year lows; falling 12.50% or 0.100 to 0.700.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.15% or 0.08 to $52.45 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.18% or 0.10 to hit $55.55 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.52% or 6.25 to trade at $1202.45 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 1.05% to 180.950, while USD/LKR rose 0.16% to 150.160.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 101.66.
