Sri Lanka stocks lower at close of trade; CSE All-Share down 0.10%

Investing.com – Sri Lanka stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Information Technology, Plantations and Palm Oil sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share declined 0.10% to hit a new 1-month low.

The best performers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which rose 33.33% or 0.200 points to trade at 0.800 at the close. Meanwhile, EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) added 18.45% or 225.80 points to end at 1449.80 and Amana Takaful Life Ltd (CM:ANTK) was up 18.18% or 0.20 points to 1.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Namunukula Plantations PLC (CM:NAMU), which fell 10.76% or 9.30 points to trade at 77.10 at the close. Maskeliya Plantations PLC (CM:MASK) declined 10.00% or 0.80 points to end at 7.20 and Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) was down 9.09% or 0.100 points to 1.000.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Colombo Stock Exchange by 96 to 82 and 53 ended unchanged.

Shares in EB Creasy and Company PLC (CM:EBCR) rose to 3-years highs; rising 18.45% or 225.80 to 1449.80. Shares in Tess Agro PLC (CM:TESS) fell to 5-year lows; losing 9.09% or 0.100 to 1.000.

Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.79% or 0.90 to $49.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.64% or 0.87 to hit $52.24 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.38% or 4.55 to trade at $1204.85 a troy ounce.

GBP/LKR was up 0.05% to 183.950, while USD/LKR rose 0.05% to 151.390.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 102.07.
