Investing.com – Spain stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Building & Construction and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Mapfre (BME:MAP), which rose 2.23% or 0.05 points to trade at 2.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Telefonica (BME:TEF) added 1.27% or 0.06 points to end at 4.40 and Aena SME SA (BME:AENA) was up 1.24% or 2.40 points to 196.70 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY), which fell 2.43% or 0.56 points to trade at 22.44 at the close. Grifols SA (BME:GRLS) declined 2.19% or 0.22 points to end at 10.04 and Enagas (BME:ENAG) was down 2.06% or 0.29 points to 13.79.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 98 to 93 and 21 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mapfre (BME:MAP) rose to 3-years highs; up 2.23% or 0.05 to 2.38. Shares in Aena SME SA (BME:AENA) rose to all time highs; rising 1.24% or 2.40 to 196.70.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.18% or 4.55 to $2,596.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.57% or 0.40 to hit $69.56 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.58% or 0.43 to trade at $73.27 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 100.59.
