Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Consumer Services and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 gained 0.49%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Endesa (MC:ELE), which rose 3.52% or 0.695 points to trade at 20.440 at the close. Meanwhile, Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) added 2.75% or 0.141 points to end at 5.267 and Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM) was up 1.74% or 0.300 points to 17.545 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bankia SA (MC:BKIA), which fell 2.56% or 0.113 points to trade at 4.300 at the close. Mapfre (MC:MAP) declined 1.97% or 0.063 points to end at 3.139 and ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) was down 1.87% or 0.420 points to 22.050.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 94 to 79 and 19 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.32% or 3.96 to $1248.14 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.69% or 0.81 to hit $48.70 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.45% or 0.73 to trade at $50.93 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.1630, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8911.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 94.03.
