Most Fed members eye rate cuts this year, but splits emerge on next steps
Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 1.46%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (BME:GRLS), which rose 4.27% or 0.44 points to trade at 10.63 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Santander (BME:SAN) added 3.92% or 0.27 points to end at 7.13 and Telefonica (BME:TEF) was up 3.29% or 0.15 points to 4.74 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Endesa SA (BME:ELE), which fell 1.40% or 0.38 points to trade at 26.84 at the close. Indra A (BME:IDR) declined 1.16% or 0.42 points to end at 35.88 and Cellnex Telecom SA (BME:CLNX) was down 0.46% or 0.15 points to 32.81.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 116 to 71 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco Santander (BME:SAN) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 3.92% or 0.27 to 7.13. Shares in Telefonica (BME:TEF) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.29% or 0.15 to 4.74.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.88% or 30.49 to $3,422.31 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.44% or 1.74 to hit $69.55 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.47% or 1.83 to trade at $72.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.28% to 1.16, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 97.46.
