Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.85% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (BME:GRLS), which rose 4.60% or 0.40 points to trade at 9.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Acciona (BME:ANA) added 2.98% or 3.90 points to end at 134.90 and Industria de Diseno Textil SA (BME:ITX) was up 1.72% or 0.83 points to 49.03 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (BME:MTS), which fell 1.30% or 0.36 points to trade at 27.35 at the close. Acerinox (BME:ACX) declined 0.37% or 0.04 points to end at 10.65 and Merlin Properties SA (BME:MRL) was down 0.28% or 0.03 points to 10.64.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 136 to 58 and 22 ended unchanged.
Shares in Acciona (BME:ANA) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.98% or 3.90 to 134.90.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.30% or 41.99 to $3,184.61 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.46% or 0.90 to hit $62.52 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.32% or 0.85 to trade at $65.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.41% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.35% at 101.08.
