Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.63% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Telefonica (BME:TEF), which rose 2.51% or 0.11 points to trade at 4.53 at the close. Meanwhile, Acciona (BME:ANA) added 2.16% or 2.60 points to end at 123.20 and ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (BME:ACS) was up 2.13% or 0.92 points to 44.04 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mapfre (BME:MAP), which fell 1.74% or 0.04 points to trade at 2.49 at the close. Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria SA (BME:BBVA) declined 1.63% or 0.15 points to end at 9.29 and SOLARIA ENERGIA Y MEDIO AMBIENTE (BME:SLRS) was down 1.55% or 0.17 points to 10.83.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 104 to 80 and 29 ended unchanged.
Shares in Telefonica (BME:TEF) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.51% or 0.11 to 4.53. Shares in ACS Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA (BME:ACS) rose to all time highs; rising 2.13% or 0.92 to 44.04.
Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.24% or 6.40 to $2,685.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.16% or 0.11 to hit $70.47 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $74.25 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.17% to 1.09, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.40% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 103.29.
