Spain stocks higher at close of trade; IBEX 35 up 0.18%

Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Building & Construction, Financial Services & Real Estate and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.18%.

The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Caixabank SA (MC:CABK), which rose 2.40% or 0.092 points to trade at 3.930 at the close. Meanwhile, Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SA (MC:GAM) added 2.00% or 0.260 points to end at 13.290 and Repsol (MC:REP) was up 1.89% or 0.260 points to 14.050 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which fell 2.11% or 0.076 points to trade at 3.521 at the close. Telefonica (MC:TEF) declined 1.56% or 0.127 points to end at 7.993 and Red Electrica Corporacion SA (MC:REE) was down 1.40% or 0.225 points to 15.855.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 102 to 74 and 21 ended unchanged.

Shares in Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.11% or 0.076 to 3.521.

Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.42% or 5.60 to $1312.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 2.30% or 1.43 to hit $63.56 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 2.07% or 1.37 to trade at $67.42 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.62% to 1.2260, while EUR/GBP fell 0.48% to 0.8754.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 89.89.
