Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which rose 1.90% or 2.16 points to trade at 116.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeroflot (MCX:AFLT) added 1.55% or 2.95 points to end at 193.00 and FSK EES (MCX:FEES) was up 1.43% or 0.0024 points to 0.1697 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Polyus Zoloto OAO (MCX:PLZL), which fell 4.12% or 173.0 points to trade at 4030.0 at the close. Magnit (MCX:MGNT) declined 3.89% or 368.0 points to end at 9103.0 and Polymetal International PLC (MCX:POLY) was down 1.99% or 13.50 points to 666.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 107 to 104 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Polyus Zoloto OAO (MCX:PLZL) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.12% or 173.0 to 4030.0.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 2.14% to 22.000.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.26% or 3.29 to $1245.81 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.29% or 0.13 to hit $44.87 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.11% or 0.05 to trade at $47.59 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.41% to 59.4422, while EUR/RUB fell 0.01% to 67.4640.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 95.43.
