Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Power, Telecoms and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index lost 1.79%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Severstal PJSC (MCX:CHMF), which rose 2.64% or 35.20 points to trade at 1,370.00 at the close. Meanwhile, OK Rusal MKPAO (MCX:RUAL) added 2.12% or 0.86 points to end at 41.35 and T Tekhnologii MKPAO (MCX:T) was up 1.22% or 40.60 points to 3,368.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unipro PJSC (MCX:UPRO), which fell 14.83% or 0.39 points to trade at 2.22 at the close. TATNEFT n.a. V.D. Shashin Pref (MCX:TATN_p) declined 2.01% or 13.60 points to end at 662.10 and Moskovskaya Birzha PJSC (MCX:MOEX) was down 1.56% or 3.43 points to 216.27.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 183 to 63 and 8 ended unchanged.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 3.53% to 48.40.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.32% or 9.45 to $2,916.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 0.11% or 0.07 to hit $66.38 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.33% or 0.23 to trade at $69.53 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 1.55% to 89.00, while EUR/RUB fell 1.52% to 96.04.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 104.24.
