Trump announces 50% tariff on copper, effective August 1
Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Mining, Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index lost 1.66%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were MMC NORILSK NICKEL PJSC (MCX:GMKN), which rose 2.38% or 2.60 points to trade at 110.80 at the close. Meanwhile, PIK SHb PJSC (MCX:PIKK) added 1.72% or 9.30 points to end at 550.70 and Federal Hydro Generating Company RusHydro PJSC (MCX:HYDR) was up 1.35% or 0.01 points to 0.46 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Magnit PJSC (MCX:MGNT), which fell 3.68% or 143.50 points to trade at 3,754.00 at the close. PhosAgro PJSC (MCX:PHOR) declined 3.44% or 222.00 points to end at 6,223.00 and Severstal PJSC (MCX:CHMF) was down 2.91% or 29.60 points to 987.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 176 to 68 and 9 ended unchanged.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 2.94% to 37.33 a new 3-months low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.00% or 0.10 to $3,346.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.25% or 0.81 to hit $65.39 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $67.13 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 79.43, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 90.25.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 98.99.
