Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Mining and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index declined 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Rosneft PJSC (MCX:ROSN), which rose 1.23% or 6.50 points to trade at 533.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Moskovskiy Kreditnyi Bank PAO (MCX:CBOM) added 0.72% or 0.07 points to end at 10.18 and AK ALROSA PJSC (MCX:ALRS) was up 0.47% or 0.28 points to 59.79 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PIK SHb PJSC (MCX:PIKK), which fell 4.00% or 25.40 points to trade at 609.00 at the close. Unipro PJSC (MCX:UPRO) declined 3.80% or 0.08 points to end at 2.00 and Surgutneftegas PJSC (MCX:SNGS) was down 2.50% or 0.67 points to 25.97.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 206 to 42 and 6 ended unchanged.
The Russian Volatility Index – RVI, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was up 9.61% to 54.07 a new 3-months high.
Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.77% or 22.50 to $2,943.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April rose 2.17% or 1.44 to hit $67.69 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.03 to trade at $70.99 a barrel.
USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 87.15, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 94.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 103.55.
