Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Power, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia fell 1.17%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM), which rose 0.62% or 0.49 points to trade at 79.99 at the close. Meanwhile, PIK (MCX:PIKK) added 0.40% or 1.50 points to end at 376.90 and VTB (MCX:VTBR) was up 0.16% or 0.0001 points to 0.0440 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were FSK EES (MCX:FEES), which fell 3.02% or 0.0061 points to trade at 0.1970 at the close. Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) declined 3.01% or 0.0388 points to end at 1.2490 and Surgut-pref (MCX:SNGS_p) was down 2.99% or 1.290 points to 41.810.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 163 to 64 and 20 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 0.82% to 18.160 a new 1-month low.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.01% or 0.15 to $1412.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $60.42 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.29 to trade at $66.72 a barrel.
USD/RUB was down 0.50% to 62.8586, while EUR/RUB fell 0.49% to 70.7300.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 96.692.
