Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Manufacturing, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX gained 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which rose 5.91% or 171.0 points to trade at 3066.0 at the close. Meanwhile, MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 4.29% or 1.265 points to end at 30.760 and MMC Norilsk Nickel (MCX:GMKN) was up 2.04% or 193.0 points to 9637.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Trubnaya Metallurgicheskaya Kompaniya OAO (MCX:TRMK), which fell 3.41% or 1.65 points to trade at 46.80 at the close. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) declined 2.36% or 18.70 points to end at 774.50 and E.ON Rossiya OAO (MCX:UPRO) was down 1.97% or 0.0590 points to 2.9410.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 119 to 115 and 30 ended unchanged.
Shares in MMK (MCX:MAGN) rose to 5-year highs; rising 4.29% or 1.265 to 30.760.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.03% to 27.130.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.11% or 1.45 to $1358.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.82% or 1.59 to hit $40.01 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.54% or 1.54 to trade at $41.99 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.98% to 66.6887, while EUR/RUB rose 1.05% to 74.500.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 95.64.
