Investing.com – Russia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Power and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia rose 0.68%.
The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia were Lukoil (MCX:LKOH), which rose 2.13% or 108.5 points to trade at 5195.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI) added 2.07% or 0.0231 points to end at 1.1375 and ALROSA ao (MCX:ALRS) was up 1.69% or 1.210 points to 73.020 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Safmar Finansovye Investitsii PAO (MCX:SFIN), which fell 3.80% or 19.2 points to trade at 486.0 at the close. Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) declined 3.23% or 24 points to end at 720 and Polyus OAO (MCX:PLZL) was down 0.84% or 64.0 points to 7510.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 115 to 100 and 18 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia options, was down 1.71% to 21.790.
Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.36% or 5.55 to $1546.25 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.58% or 0.87 to hit $55.80 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.63% or 0.96 to trade at $59.99 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.26% to 66.6088, while EUR/RUB rose 0.15% to 73.7915.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 98.093.
