Trump announces 50% tariff on copper, effective August 1
Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Basic Materials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI lost 0.02%.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT), which rose 1.72% or 0.38 points to trade at 22.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP) added 1.34% or 0.01 points to end at 0.68 and EDP Energias de Portugal SA (ELI:EDP) was up 0.43% or 0.02 points to 3.52 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA), which fell 3.90% or 0.18 points to trade at 4.53 at the close. Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS) declined 2.55% or 0.14 points to end at 5.36 and Semapa (ELI:SEM) was down 1.44% or 0.26 points to 17.74.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 16 to 10 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banco Comercial Portugues (ELI:BCP) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 1.34% or 0.01 to 0.68.
Brent oil for August delivery was down 1.31% or 0.84 to $63.28 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.50% or 0.92 to hit $60.61 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 2.16% or 73.19 to trade at $3,321.31 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.53% to 1.13, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.12% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 99.49.
