Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.90% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 9.20% or 0.0160 points to trade at 0.1900 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) added 5.86% or 0.0697 points to end at 1.2597 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was up 4.40% or 0.0320 points to 0.7600 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR), which fell 1.05% or 0.0630 points to trade at 5.9110 at the close. Montepio (LS:MPIO) unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to end at 0.430 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) was up 0.18% or 0.0020 points to 1.1300.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 38 to 11 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in Montepio (LS:MPIO) unchanged to all time lows; unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 to 0.430. Shares in Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) rose to 5-year highs; up 4.40% or 0.0320 to 0.7600.
Brent oil for February delivery was down 1.15% or 0.62 to $53.31 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.59% or 0.81 to hit $50.12 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.68% or 7.95 to trade at $1178.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.0748, while EUR/GBP rose 0.99% to 0.8536.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.18% at 100.33.
