Stock market today: S&P 500 in weekly loss as trade war fears intensifyy
Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Utilities and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI gained 0.50% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP), which rose 4.66% or 0.66 points to trade at 14.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Sonae SGPS SA (ELI:YSO) added 1.15% or 0.01 points to end at 1.23 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI:CTT) was up 1.08% or 0.08 points to 7.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Semapa (ELI:SEM), which fell 2.38% or 0.42 points to trade at 17.20 at the close. Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) declined 1.26% or 0.28 points to end at 21.88 and Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS) was down 0.94% or 0.05 points to 5.26.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 17 to 12 and 1 ended unchanged.
Brent oil for August delivery was up 3.23% or 2.03 to $64.81 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.31% or 2.01 to hit $62.80 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 2.60% or 86.25 to trade at $3,401.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.08% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.55% at 98.72.
