Stock market today: S&P 500 ends flat on fresh trade war worries
Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI rose 0.17% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI were EDP Renovaveis (ELI:EDPR), which rose 2.67% or 0.23 points to trade at 8.84 at the close. Meanwhile, Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE) added 0.86% or 0.03 points to end at 2.94 and Galp Energia Nom (ELI:GALP) was up 0.68% or 0.10 points to 14.05 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI:MOTA), which fell 1.97% or 0.09 points to trade at 4.49 at the close. Jeronimo Martins SGPS SA (ELI:JMT) declined 1.77% or 0.40 points to end at 22.16 and Altri SGPS SA (ELI:ALSS) was down 1.12% or 0.06 points to 5.31.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 13 to 10 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI:RENE) rose to 3-years highs; up 0.86% or 0.03 to 2.94.
Brent oil for August delivery was down 1.25% or 0.79 to $62.56 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.90% or 0.55 to hit $60.39 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.95% or 31.64 to trade at $3,312.26 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.14% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 99.36.
