Philippines stocks higher at close of trade; PSEi Composite up 0.52%

Investing.com – Philippines stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Banking & Financials, Mining & Oil and Industrials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Philippines, the PSEi Composite gained 0.52% to hit a new all time high.

The best performers of the session on the PSEi Composite were Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co (PS:MBT), which rose 3.94% or 3.90 points to trade at 102.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Globe Telecom Inc (PS:GLO) added 2.78% or 50.00 points to end at 1850.00 and Jollibee Foods Corp (PS:JFC) was up 2.09% or 5.20 points to 254.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were SM Investments Corp (PS:SM), which fell 0.96% or 9.50 points to trade at 980.00 at the close. Security Bank Corp (PS:SECB) declined 0.79% or 2.00 points to end at 252.20 and Ayala Corp (PS:AC) was down 0.68% or 7.00 points to 1022.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Philippines Stock Exchange by 107 to 105 and 37 ended unchanged.

Shares in Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co (PS:MBT) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 3.94% or 3.90 to 102.90.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.29% or 3.70 to $1295.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.34% or 0.20 to hit $59.84 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.35% or 0.23 to trade at $66.22 a barrel.

CNY/PHP was up 0.17% to 7.6433, while USD/PHP fell 0.23% to 49.933.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 92.38.
