Peru stocks higher at close of trade; S&P Lima General up 2.08%

Investing.com – Peru stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the S&P Lima Juniors, Mining and Non-Metal Minerals sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lima, the S&P Lima General rose 2.08% to hit a new 52-week high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P Lima General were Panoro (LM:PML), which rose 23.64% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.136 at the close. Meanwhile, Sociedad Minera el Brocal SAA (LM:BRO) added 18.68% or 1.130 points to end at 7.180 and Southern Copper Corp (LM:SPC) was up 14.31% or 4.23 points to 33.78 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Intergroup (LM:IFS), which fell 2.44% or 0.750 points to trade at 30.000 at the close. Credicorp (LM:BAP) declined 1.90% or 3.100 points to end at 159.700 and Buenaventura (LM:BVN) was down 1.64% or 0.210 points to 12.600.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lima Stock Exchange by 21 to 10 and 6 ended unchanged.

Shares in Sociedad Minera el Brocal SAA (LM:BRO) rose to 52-week highs; rising 18.68% or 1.130 to 7.180. Shares in Southern Copper Corp (LM:SPC) rose to 3-years highs; rising 14.31% or 4.23 to 33.78.

Crude oil for December delivery was down 2.03% or 0.92 to $44.35 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 1.60% or 0.74 to hit $45.62 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.15% or 14.65 to trade at $1258.85 a troy ounce.

USD/PEN was up 0.78% to 3.4030, while EUR/PEN fell 1.14% to 3.6792.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 98.81.
