Investing.com – Stocks retreated into the red Wednesday afternoon on a report from The Wall Street Journal that U.S. and China trade talks have stalled over agriculture purchases.

  • President Trump previously said China committed to buying up to $50 billion in U.S. soybeans, pork and other agricultural products as part of a phase one trade agreement. But China is unwilling to quantify its farm purchases, denting hopes that the phase one deal will be signed sooner rather than later, the Journal said, citing sources.

  • China is also resisting U.S. demands to make reforms on forced technology transfer, which the Trump administration has previously said would be addressed in future trade deals with Beijing.

The China trade is the only carrot this realtor in the White House has. He has to drag this out until he believes the time will be right to support the election.
The claimed agriculture issue is a head fake. Expect a deal announced soon. (we are playing inept games).
lol. buy gold soon tp meet 1485
may Trump only want tariff and buy time for chain supply to move out of China. may be the goal is to bring back manufacturer to US. may be Trump never want trade deal after all.
Asians need opium not beer! Cheers
Geewhizz I never see this coming huhh
Trump doesn't understand... if he wants China to buy $50B argi, then he has to lift all tarriffs. If he doesn't then of course China will not agreed to buy $50B. Trump needs to do deal like Asians. That means he has to sit down with Xi, bring out the beers, and then talk. That's how it is.
no thanks
Dow has fake news of peaking up due to Disney news. Remeber Boeing news which has 8.89 weight in Dow whereas Disney has only 3.39. How come it raised Dow so much?
Because of Disney magic. Didn’t you know?
Hahahaha. @SB its like Cinderella Movie from Disney
Gee....yesterday Donald said the China trade talks were moving along nicely. In actual fact, he has absolutely no idea how these talks are progressing. Yet one more unfulfilled promise....ACA still strong, no wall paid for by Mexico, never hired the “best” people for cabinet and staff, never proved the 2016 popular vote was corrupt, has no trade deal with China, and I could go on and on and on and on....
Better stop while you’re not ahead.
At least the nuclear threat from NK is finally over ...
Stocks still soaring. Give me a break.
True @Chris
Knob infatuation? LOL
DUH. never really had expectation of less, if China is serious about being a Super Power.
Hold the line Trump. I'm glad someone is doing something while there in office. You have my support. 2020 easy win
quite clear you dont know the history of US agreements and how heavily we have benefited in our history. alas times might finally be changing... careful what you wish for.
It seems like China benefitted exponentially more than the US to become the second largest economic power. Trump is our key to fair trade.
If you really believe in fair trade, then you dont know the real world yet. I am sorry to say you are still living in wonderland.
It seems to me that China is asking in order to sign 'Phase 1' roll back the Sep. 2019 tariff $125 billion + -.r. r. President Trump wants to hold some of Sep. tariff.r. r. A HAPPY MEDIUIM!
but the market is still going up.
Low unemployment, uninverted yield curve, stronger than expected EARNINGS
Rate cuts
Up til they want it to go down heavily.
The con man dances.
Will Trump accept ccp *****note?!
No dollar how to purchase?!
Is Trump doing this to play poker with the world economy, or does his close environment make hidden profits out of his tweets?
In this case it would be China playing poker, since they're (now) disagreeing with terms they previously seemed to accept. There's been plenty of time to do it after last month's meeting; to do it now, on the day impeachment hearings begin... maybe a message there.
These speculators and columnists are purposely manipulating the market. All of them should be investigated by the SEC. This is just ridiculous!!! Every other day, trade talks progress, then trade talks fail. How about you find something else to report on than the same old things!!!
No progress is made
Traders’ accounts are making progress.
back to square one
Traders’ accounts are making progress.
China wants it's cake and eat it too.
I thought Trump said everything is doing great.
Until Trump is gone nothing is going to happen here.
Facts . He don't know if he want a deal or he want to mess the world economy up with keep imposing taxes. That's all he doing is digging a hole where it may take anothet 6 months to get out of the negative for people that got stock .
When Trump is gone, nothing will happen. Both parties want free trade. Trump is the outlier!!! Why you think congress didn't the trade agreement with Mexico and Canada. It's not a secret. When people don't want to do something they either change the subject or don't speak about the topic in question...
congress didn't approve* the
Here we go again????
