Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Consumer Goods and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.17%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO), which rose 3.81% or 0.56 points to trade at 15.12 at the close. Meanwhile, Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.70% or 0.990 points to end at 59.390 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) was up 0.69% or 0.38 points to 55.37 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Royal Dutch Shell A (AS:RDSa), which fell 0.93% or 0.245 points to trade at 26.020 at the close. Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) declined 0.66% or 0.13 points to end at 19.69 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was down 0.52% or 0.20 points to 39.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 62 to 59 and 17 ended unchanged.
Shares in SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) rose to 52-week highs; up 3.81% or 0.56 to 15.12.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.65% to 13.57.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.05% or 0.56 to $52.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.23% or 0.68 to hit $54.67 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.01% or 0.15 to trade at $1133.45 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.43% to 1.0434, while EUR/GBP rose 0.61% to 0.8450.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 102.99.
