Netherlands stocks lower at close of trade; AEX down 0.14%

Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumer Services and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.14%.

The best performers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 0.90% or 0.55 points to trade at 61.33 at the close. Meanwhile, Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) added 0.85% or 0.29 points to end at 34.86 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was up 0.68% or 0.30 points to 44.90 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Vopak (AS:VOPA), which fell 1.40% or 0.57 points to trade at 40.62 at the close. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 1.15% or 2.50 points to end at 214.60 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA) was down 1.10% or 0.091 points to 8.164.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 78 to 49 and 7 ended unchanged.

Shares in Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.85% or 0.29 to 34.86.

The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.70% to 13.70.

Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.24% or 0.13 to $53.33 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.07% or 0.04 to hit $56.05 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.58% or 7.15 to trade at $1218.35 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.01% to 1.0581, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.8669.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 101.70.
