Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Healthcare and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 3.33% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc), which fell 0.04% or 0.05 points to trade at 139.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) fell 0.60% or 0.02 points to end at 3.82 and Universal Music Group NV (AS:UMG) was down 1.16% or 0.27 points to 22.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI), which fell 7.25% or 6.22 points to trade at 79.62 at the close. Shell PLC (AS:SHEL) declined 5.51% or 1.56 points to end at 26.77 and Prosus (AS:PRX) was down 5.22% or 1.97 points to 35.65.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 92 to 8 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI) fell to 52-week lows; falling 7.25% or 6.22 to 79.62. Shares in Shell PLC (AS:SHEL) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.51% or 1.56 to 26.77.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 3.78% or 2.25 to $57.33 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 3.61% or 2.27 to hit $60.55 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 3.66% or 109.51 to trade at $3,099.71 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.65% to 1.10, while EUR/GBP rose 0.77% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.54% at 102.14.
