Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.26%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG), which rose 1.83% or 0.43 points to trade at 23.89 at the close. Meanwhile, DSM Firmenich AG (AS:DSFIR) added 1.73% or 1.56 points to end at 91.90 and Randstad NV (AS:RAND) was up 1.50% or 0.62 points to 41.96 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 4.08% or 1.18 points to trade at 27.74 at the close. BE Semiconductor Industries NV (AS:BESI) declined 3.67% or 3.85 points to end at 101.05 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) was down 2.24% or 14.70 points to 642.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 57 to 39 and 9 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.10% or 0.07 to $69.72 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $73.08 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 1.33% or 40.74 to trade at $3,093.04 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.46% to 1.08, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 103.91.
