Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Healthcare and Oil & Gas sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND), which rose 4.94% or 2.43 points to trade at 51.60 at the close. Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 3.26% or 0.710 points to end at 22.485 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) was up 1.88% or 0.088 points to 4.765 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 1.78% or 0.79 points to trade at 43.37 at the close. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) declined 0.71% or 0.021 points to end at 2.954 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was down 0.55% or 0.10 points to 17.18.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 73 to 57 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gemalto (AS:GTO) fell to 5-year lows; losing 1.78% or 0.79 to 43.37.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 11.02% to 11.72.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 3.32% or 1.54 to $47.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 3.07% or 1.49 to hit $50.09 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.32% or 4.07 to trade at $1250.23 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.09% to 1.1654, while EUR/GBP rose 0.03% to 0.8940.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 93.84.
