Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.45%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Randstad NV (AS:RAND), which rose 8.07% or 2.67 points to trade at 35.75 at the close. Meanwhile, Akzo Nobel NV (AS:AKZO) added 7.27% or 3.76 points to end at 55.46 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 5.34% or 1.29 points to 25.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Unilever PLC (AS:ULVR), which fell 1.13% or 0.64 points to trade at 56.24 at the close. Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) declined 0.13% or 0.20 points to end at 150.05 and Heineken (AS:HEIN) was down 0.13% or 0.10 points to 77.58.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 74 to 22 and 9 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.00% to 21.09.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.75% or 1.75 to $61.92 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.48% or 1.67 to hit $65.77 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 3.50% or 119.76 to trade at $3,299.64 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.14, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.69% at 99.38.
