Netherlands stocks higher at close of trade; AEX up 0.12%

Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Industrials and Technology sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.12% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the AEX were SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which rose 1.45% or 0.21 points to trade at 14.72 at the close. Meanwhile, Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 1.44% or 1.230 points to end at 86.610 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) was up 0.98% or 0.235 points to 24.240 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Aegon NV (AS:AEGN), which fell 2.46% or 0.122 points to trade at 4.842 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 1.27% or 0.290 points to end at 22.630 and Gemalto (AS:GTO) was down 0.92% or 0.38 points to 40.88.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 69 to 58 and 11 ended unchanged.

Shares in Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) rose to all time highs; up 1.44% or 1.230 to 86.610.

The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.26% to 10.00.

Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.60% or 0.79 to $50.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.80% or 0.44 to hit $55.60 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 1.83 to trade at $1329.83 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 0.03% to 1.1880, while EUR/GBP fell 1.41% to 0.8870.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 92.32.
