Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Financial Services, Consumer Goods & Services and Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC lost 2.73%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES), which rose 7.91% or 28.100 points to trade at 383.250 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) added 0.35% or 0.920 points to end at 264.890 and Grupo Simec, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:SIMECB) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to 53.900 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Empresas ICA , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICA), which fell 10.67% or 0.380 points to trade at 3.180 at the close. Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) declined 9.14% or 1.130 points to end at 11.240 and Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) was down 5.54% or 5.660 points to 96.490.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 132 to 56 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) rose to 52-week highs; up 7.91% or 28.100 to 383.250.
Gold for August delivery was up 4.53% or 57.25 to $1320.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.89% or 2.45 to hit $47.66 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 4.79% or 2.44 to trade at $48.47 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 3.80% to 18.9168, while EUR/MXN rose 1.26% to 21.0089.
The US Dollar Index was up 2.51% at 95.67.
