Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Materials, Telecoms Services and Financial Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC fell 0.88%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which rose 2.94% or 7.980 points to trade at 279.520 at the close. Meanwhile, Gruma SAB de CV (MX:GRUMAB) added 1.70% or 4.750 points to end at 284.690 and Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA) was up 1.13% or 0.290 points to 26.000 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA), which fell 5.29% or 1.36 points to trade at 24.36 at the close. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) declined 3.20% or 2.140 points to end at 64.800 and Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO) was down 2.78% or 0.500 points to 17.500.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 186 to 87 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in VOLARIS A (MX:VOLARA) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.29% or 1.36 to 24.36.
Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.06% or 0.80 to $1238.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 0.79% or 0.43 to hit $53.90 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.09% or 0.05 to trade at $56.20 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.05% to 19.9135, while EUR/MXN rose 0.12% to 21.0327.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 101.31.
