Stock market today: S&P 500 ends flat on fresh trade war worries
Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrials, Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.65% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB), which rose 2.69% or 0.56 points to trade at 21.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (BMV:TLEVISACPO) added 1.28% or 0.11 points to end at 8.71 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV:PEOLES) was up 0.77% or 3.83 points to 501.32 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA), which fell 3.89% or 0.34 points to trade at 8.39 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:GCARSOA1) declined 2.90% or 3.77 points to end at 126.40 and Banco Del Bajio SA Institution De Banca Multiple (BMV:BBAJIOO) was down 2.90% or 1.35 points to 45.13.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 148 to 82 and 17 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.32% or 10.80 to $3,406.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 5.05% or 3.55 to hit $73.80 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 5.23% or 3.83 to trade at $77.06 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.15% to 19.03, while EUR/MXN rose 0.21% to 21.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.87% at 98.41.
