Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; IPC up 1.65%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Telecoms Services and Materials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 1.65%.

The best performers of the session on the IPC were Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX), which rose 9.68% or 1.770 points to trade at 20.050 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico (MX:SANMEXB) added 5.49% or 1.650 points to end at 31.680 and Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (MX:GFINBURO) was up 5.38% or 1.460 points to 28.610 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB), which fell 2.88% or 0.660 points to trade at 22.220 at the close. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) declined 1.28% or 1.030 points to end at 79.530 and El Puerto De Liverpool Sab De CV (MX:LIVEPOLC1) was down 1.23% or 1.930 points to 155.620.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 180 to 88 and 13 ended unchanged.

Gold for February delivery was down 0.47% or 5.50 to $1172.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.41% or 1.20 to hit $50.97 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $53.98 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.04% to 20.3058, while EUR/MXN fell 0.04% to 21.5557.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.83% at 101.11.
