Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Staples and Consumer Goods & Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Gruma SAB de CV (MX:GRUMAB), which rose 2.00% or 5.090 points to trade at 259.330 at the close. Meanwhile, Grupo Televisa SA (MX:TLVACPO) added 1.33% or 1.140 points to end at 86.550 and Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX:FMSAUBD) was up 0.84% or 1.290 points to 155.430 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA), which fell 3.07% or 0.780 points to trade at 24.610 at the close. Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) declined 2.10% or 0.64 points to end at 29.86 and Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) was down 1.89% or 1.510 points to 78.300.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 164 to 108 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupo LALA SA de CV (MX:LALAB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.10% or 0.64 to 29.86.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.06% or 0.65 to $1132.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 1.46% or 0.78 to hit $52.52 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $54.53 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.02% to 20.5631, while EUR/MXN rose 0.09% to 21.4461.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.21% at 103.04.
