Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financial Services, Materials and Telecoms Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC rose 0.57%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO), which rose 5.66% or 0.950 points to trade at 17.740 at the close. Meanwhile, Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (MX:FMSAUBD) added 2.15% or 3.450 points to end at 164.110 and Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX) was up 1.72% or 0.360 points to 21.310 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA), which fell 3.96% or 1.260 points to trade at 30.560 at the close. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) declined 3.03% or 1.860 points to end at 59.570 and Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA) was down 2.75% or 1.480 points to 52.270.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 179 to 138 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Alsea, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA) fell to 52-week lows; down 2.75% or 1.480 to 52.270.
Gold for February delivery was up 1.70% or 20.30 to $1216.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.31% or 0.16 to hit $52.53 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.07% or 0.04 to trade at $55.45 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.06% to 21.4961, while EUR/MXN fell 0.05% to 23.0235.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.25% at 100.26.
