(Reuters) - Meta Platforms Inc spokesperson Andy Stone said in a tweet on Tuesday that a report on Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg stepping down next year was false.

News website The Leak earlier in the day reported that Zuckerberg was set to resign in 2023, citing an unnamed insider source. The report briefly sent the company's shares up 1%.

Getting pretty annoyed at these unverified rumors/claims getting pushed up on the front page of market news causing market panic. Not hard to imagine someone is profiting off of doing this. We literally just had the Wall Street Journal publish that nonsense about OPEC raising production now instead of cutting it. The Wall Street Journal! Its not some random blogger trending online or something like that. The Saudi Energy Minister and now Meta's spokesperson have had to come out to refute this stuff. Gonna be a lot of fun when we get the next made up story that is hard to address properly or refute...
