Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Products, Technology and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI gained 0.87%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR), which rose 4.41% or 0.13 points to trade at 3.08 at the close. Meanwhile, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (KL:PCGB) added 3.95% or 0.24 points to end at 6.32 and Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) was up 3.01% or 0.16 points to 5.47 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Axiata Group Bhd (KL:AXIA), which fell 0.47% or 0.03 points to trade at 6.40 at the close. Maxis Bhd (KL:MXSC) declined 0.47% or 0.03 points to end at 6.37 and Telekom Malaysia Bhd (KL:TLMM) was down 0.30% or 0.02 points to 6.54.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 326 to 239 and 35 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.56% or 0.33 to $58.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.07% or 0.67 to hit $62.67 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.31% or 3.60 to trade at $1175.40 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.07% to 2.8038, while USD/MYR rose 0.06% to 3.7733.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.44% at 95.50.
