Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Marine Transport and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which rose 4.48% or 150.0 points to trade at 3500.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (TO) (T:8306) added 4.21% or 26.0 points to end at 643.0 and The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. (T:5101) was up 3.94% or 77.0 points to 2029.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co., Ltd. (T:3865), which fell 8.19% or 53.0 points to trade at 594.0 at the close. Dentsu Inc. (T:4324) declined 6.12% or 340.0 points to end at 5220.0 and Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043) was down 3.02% or 13.0 points to 417.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1592 to 1359 and 355 ended unchanged.
Shares in Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co., Ltd. (T:3865) fell to 52-week lows; falling 8.19% or 53.0 to 594.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.41% to 20.98.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.96% or 0.85 to $44.17 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.60% or 0.71 to hit $45.14 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.33% or 4.05 to trade at $1225.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.18% to 108.22, while EUR/JPY fell 0.05% to 116.35.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 99.94.
