Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment, Steel and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 2.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976), which rose 2.97% or 117.00 points to trade at 4,057.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506) added 2.05% or 7.00 points to end at 349.00 and CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) was up 2.03% or 19.40 points to 974.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704), which fell 6.08% or 425.00 points to trade at 6,567.00 at the close. Ricoh Co., Ltd. (TYO:7752) declined 5.96% or 86.00 points to end at 1,358.00 and Tokyo Tatemono Co., Ltd. (TYO:8804) was down 5.49% or 139.50 points to 2,401.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2579 to 1054 and 240 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.01% to 16.29.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.49% or 0.38 to $77.67 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.52% or 0.43 to hit $82.19 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.79% or 18.65 to trade at $2,330.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 157.39, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 168.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 105.24.
