Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services, Electrical/Machinery and Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.43%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Minebea Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6479), which rose 6.23% or 84.0 points to trade at 1432.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:4911) added 6.17% or 146.5 points to end at 2521.5 and Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (TOKYO:4183) was up 5.33% or 21.0 points to 415.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fukuoka Financial Group, Inc. (TOKYO:8354), which fell 3.19% or 19.0 points to trade at 577.0 at the close. The Shizuoka Bank, Ltd. (TOKYO:8355) declined 2.85% or 37.0 points to end at 1261.0 and The Chiba Bank, Ltd. (TOKYO:8331) was down 2.02% or 18.0 points to 872.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1527 to 349.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.77% to 29.17.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.15% or 0.07 to $47.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.45% or 0.23 to hit $49.98 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.05% or 0.60 to trade at $1119.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.22% to 120.83, while EUR/JPY rose 0.33% to 136.59.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 95.42.
