Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Rubber and Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dentsu Inc. (T:4324), which rose 8.38% or 450.0 points to trade at 5820.0 at the close. Meanwhile, NSK Ltd. (T:6471) added 6.26% or 96.0 points to end at 1630.0 and T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) was up 5.34% or 92.5 points to 1823.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toshiba Corp. (T:6502), which fell 8.62% or 19.8 points to trade at 209.8 at the close. DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432) declined 4.27% or 111.0 points to end at 2490.0 and The Yokohama Rubber Co., Ltd. (T:5101) was down 3.50% or 75.0 points to 2065.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2047 to 979 and 315 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.62% to 17.66 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.68% or 0.36 to $52.84 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.55% or 0.31 to hit $55.66 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.11% or 1.35 to trade at $1226.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 114.34, while EUR/JPY rose 0.11% to 120.96.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 101.21.
