Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Insurance, Finance & Investment and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.45%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were NKSJ Holdings, Inc. (T:8630), which rose 4.27% or 184.0 points to trade at 4491.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Kubota Corp. (T:6326) added 4.22% or 71.0 points to end at 1751.5 and Comsys Holdings Corp. (T:1721) was up 3.84% or 88.0 points to 2380.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Advantest Corp. (T:6857), which fell 1.56% or 31.0 points to trade at 1950.0 at the close. Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (T:5002) declined 1.20% or 13.0 points to end at 1074.0 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) was down 0.99% or 80.0 points to 8004.9.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2190 to 861 and 318 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.49% to 17.14.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.99% or 0.50 to $51.17 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.93% or 0.50 to hit $54.11 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.09% or 1.08 to trade at $1254.68 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.13% to 111.41, while EUR/JPY fell 0.20% to 124.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.30% at 97.29.
