Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Real Estate and Financial Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602), which rose 5.61% or 170.0 points to trade at 3200.0 at the close. Meanwhile, DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714) added 4.04% or 31.0 points to end at 798.0 and DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432) was up 3.61% or 80.0 points to 2297.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which fell 3.28% or 16.0 points to trade at 472.0 at the close. Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) declined 1.94% or 34.0 points to end at 1715.0 and SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) was down 1.86% or 34.0 points to 1790.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2177 to 868 and 289 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.23% to 23.03 a new 3-months high.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.88% or 0.47 to $52.71 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 0.89% or 0.50 to hit $55.39 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.16% or 2.00 to trade at $1290.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.27% to 108.36, while EUR/JPY fell 0.10% to 115.20.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.26% at 100.23.
