Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Power and Precision Instruments sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602), which rose 7.35% or 250.0 points to trade at 3650.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Dome Corp. (T:9681) added 5.15% or 52.0 points to end at 1062.0 and Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) was up 4.91% or 142.0 points to 3035.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toshiba Corp. (T:6502), which fell 4.77% or 13.1 points to trade at 261.7 at the close. Meidensha Corp. (T:6508) declined 4.57% or 18.0 points to end at 376.0 and Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co., Ltd. (T:3865) was down 4.32% or 36.0 points to 797.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1829 to 1342 and 295 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 5.65% to 13.47.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.24% or 0.11 to $46.29 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.16% or 0.08 to hit $48.76 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.35% or 4.37 to trade at $1237.53 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 112.09, while EUR/JPY fell 0.25% to 129.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 94.61.
