Nvidia closes above $4 trillion for the first time
Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate, Banking and Textile sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.29%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857), which rose 9.63% or 819.00 points to trade at 9,323.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:9501) added 4.66% or 18.90 points to end at 424.70 and Mercari Inc (TYO:4385) was up 4.56% or 117.00 points to 2,680.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nexon Co Ltd (TYO:3659), which fell 4.47% or 127.50 points to trade at 2,722.50 at the close. Takara Holdings Inc. (TYO:2531) declined 2.92% or 36.00 points to end at 1,197.50 and Renesas Electronics Corp (TYO:6723) was down 2.38% or 45.50 points to 1,865.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2393 to 1194 and 252 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 16.67% to 27.44 a new 1-month high.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.98% or 0.70 to $71.99 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.82% or 0.61 to hit $74.84 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.41% or 14.28 to trade at $3,438.52 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.12% to 144.28, while EUR/JPY rose 0.28% to 166.93.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 97.61.
